Product-specific concrete yields
Manufacturer specification
The QUIKRETE Fast-Setting Concrete Mix No. 1004 data sheet gives approximate yields of 0.375 cu ft for its 50 lb bag and 0.45 cu ft for its 60 lb bag. These two presets refer to that product document. Other products require their own label yield.
A source discrepancy we have kept visible
The same sheet gives a two-bag example for a 3 in square post in a 9 in diameter, 30 in deep hole. An ideal cylindrical hole minus that square post is about 0.948 cu ft, exceeding the listed 0.75 cu ft from two 50 lb bags. The reason for this difference has not been confirmed. We use the stated bag yield with the explicit geometric volume formula, rather than reproducing that shortcut. Actual hole shape, installation and consumption must be checked in the field.
Actual dimensions and fastener suitability
Retailer installation context Lowe’s wood fence guide distinguishes nominal and actual sizes and discusses installation details. Our 3.5 in ordinary square-post entry is an editable dimensional example. Measure or read the actual product specification; not every fence product has the same dressed size.
Connector manufacturer guidance Simpson Strong-Tie’s preservative-treated wood FAQ explains fastener and connector corrosion considerations. Our quantity count does not choose a compliant fastener material, coating, length or connection schedule.
Validation record
No invented market prices or local rules
Prices start empty. Optional snapshots are applied only to matching material specifications. We do not publish fictional national averages, claim a ZIP-code quote, display invented customers or ratings, or infer local footing requirements. No supplier has authenticated the references entered in your browser.

Retailer category navigation
The ordinary Home Depot shopping link opens its Fencing & Gates category (checked October 25, 2026). This confirms a navigation destination, not local prices, stock, a cart integration or affiliate eligibility.
Vinyl and tool references
The simple vinyl estimator uses a distinct complete-panel-kit model and requires your system’s center spacing and permission to trim. Barrette’s instruction library provides product-specific instructions; Home Depot’s installation guide distinguishes panel systems and gate supports. Neither establishes universal dimensions or structural approval for this estimator.
The tool example links to the STANLEY STHT37244 manufacturer page to identify a real 25 ft tape measure. It is not a tested recommendation, verified current price, discount or all-in-one kit. Source pages reviewed October 24, 2026. No affiliate tracking is enabled.
Optional component price snapshots
Observed October 24, 2026 on the Home Depot cedar-picket category page: model 63024, 5/8 in × 5-1/2 in × 6 ft Western Red Cedar flat-top picket, $3.98 each; model 63027, 5/8 in × 5-1/2 in × 8 ft Western Red Cedar dog-ear picket, $5.98 each. These are public-listing snapshots, with no store or ZIP selected, not national medians, price guarantees or stock checks. Prices exclude tax and delivery; verify the specific SKU and local price before purchase. No volume discount is assumed.
The simple estimator can show a pickets-only subtotal. Missing prices for posts, rails, concrete, fasteners and complete gates remain missing. The itemized materials range becomes available when every required unit price is supplied, including complete gates and fasteners. A separate per-foot quote range remains an alternative. The tool never turns this partial subtotal into a full project price.
Additional component snapshots
Observed October 24, 2026, with no store/ZIP selected: nominal 4×4×10 ft ground-contact treated pine post, model 4220254, $16.58; 2×4×8 ft treated pine stock, model 106147, $4.48; QUIKRETE Fast-Setting 50 lb bag, model 100450, $7.97. These are dated public listing observations, not national medians or local inventory/price guarantees. Tax, delivery and volume discounts are not included. Check lumber grade, dimensions, treatment and connection suitability independently.
No verified reference price is supplied for complete wood gate kits, gate-support posts or the two fastener box specifications. These lines need the user’s quote. The site does not substitute a hardware-only price for a complete gate.
Why these are product snapshots, not a national median
The Home Depot fence installation cost guide distinguishes material, style, geography and other cost drivers. Its installed-project averages do not establish a national retail median for the exact components in this planner. Lowe’s fence buying guide also warns that prices and availability vary. Neither of these reviewed pages provides the matching, multi-region, dated SKU sample needed to calculate our own national median. We therefore do not label the included snapshots “2026 Q3 National Average.”
Rechecked October 24, 2026: the five included Home Depot component snapshots remain visible on the linked public category pages. Fill matching reference prices adds only positive-quantity, blank lines with matching dimensions. It keeps your entered prices, including an explicit zero, and does not change the plan’s stock lengths or bag specification to obtain a price. A partial known subtotal stays partial; complete gates and both fastener types still require prices for the selected products. The counter measures priced material lines, not the percentage of project cost covered.
A Lowe’s search snippet showed prices near an unavailable treated-picket listing, but its opened page presented them as similar products; we did not attribute those prices to the unavailable SKU. A product’s nearby price or a retailer’s installation average is not sufficient evidence for a unit-price preset.
Product references and commercial features
The redesigned planner includes ordinary product-reference links and clearly labeled advertising layout previews. It does not currently serve ads, earn affiliate commissions or match contractors. Product references are not hands-on reviews, availability checks or ready-to-buy complete kits. The shopping-list copy action and contractor brief stay with you until you choose where to share them.
Our advertising placement reference emphasizes avoiding accidental clicks near tool controls. Google’s official desktop Side rail format is the intended route for a later live companion ad. The current placeholders are not an approval or impression guarantee. The Angi partner page describes referral cooperation, not an active relationship with this planner.
